Bug Description

recent updates to ubuntu 10.10 and 11.04 running RSW 0.3.4 appear to cause RSW to crash. It no longer fetches satellite images, and the screen remains black after setting the options in the "preferences-like" dialogue window. Since this happened on a number of computers running either of the two ubuntu versions above, the same RSW version, the offending command seems likely to have arrived with a recent weekly update to the OS, but there is no information on the ubuntu fora I have consulted, or accessible through googling.

I've been thinking on your suggestion and it wouldn't be to difficult to port RSW back to GTK2.

I'll push an update in the next few days.

I've been thinking on your suggestion and it wouldn't be to difficult to
port RSW back to GTK2.

I'll push an update in the next few days.

Very good,

Most commendable intentions, only not-quite-just there-yet... I added
the new ppa, and installed the programme as such through the terminal.
Started, and initially had a couple of hangs where the settings window
froze. From the third try on or so, this seemed to have "healed"...
However, no sunlight wallpaper. Rebooted, same procedure, identical
result.

One difference in regards to before: Whereas before the new 0.4.2 natty,
after attempting to start gtk-sunlight, my desktop would turn solid
black (which was my chosen background for the sunlight wallpaper); now
it goes back to the wallpaper chosen from the system. So something
changed, if this is of any help.

I don't know exactly what last week's updates to natty and maverick
contained, but it all seemed straight forward enough to my untrained
eye.

Cheers,

Again,

Reinstalled a second time through terminal, which returned the
informtation that

"libxine1-x dvdstyler-data libxine1-misc-plugins libxcb-xv0 libopenjpeg2
  libcpufreq0 libxine1-bin dvdauthor liblqr-1-0 dvdisaster-doc
libxine1-ffmpeg
  libwxsvg0 libmagickcore3 dvdisaster mjpegtools xine-ui
libxine1-console
  libxine1"

had been installed but were no longer needed, and would I authorize
their removal? This seemed a bit rash for my taste, so I did not. Should
I have? (I use all those programmes even though I don't know what the
libfiles do...)
