Bug Description

Hello.
Qpdfview correctly shows the comments inside a highlight when you position the mouse hover over the highlight. But it only last a little moment and hides away.
I think more correct would be that the comment stays visible until you move away the mouse hover from the highlight. If you put the mouse hover on a highlight, you want to read the comment. When you finish reading, you move away the mouse to hide the comment.

Cheers.

I insist on this. the fact that the comment do not remain visible until the mouse pointer leaves the highlight feels incosistent.
¿Is there a way to configure this?

Hello Laureano,

What you describe are tool tips which are visible for a duration provided by the toolkit. They are meant as a preview to decided whether to actually click on the comment to read it.

Adam

qpdfview has many great features, but I agree with the OP on this one.

To say it simply and provide an example, Evince handles text annotations the way I wish qpdfview did. In Evince when I hover over the icon of a note (or text annotation) the "tool tip" stays visible. Not only that, but text is automatically wrapped in a readable way.

Suppose I have a service manual in pdf form. Where the manual is not clear I add a text annotation. Some of those annotations are detailed (i.e., fairly long). Next time I have the manual open in Evince I can just hover over the note icon and read what I wrote. Even simple formatting such as numbered lists set off by carriage returns are preserved.

Presently in qpdfview I would have to hover over the note and hope I can get the gist of in the 1 sec it is open, then open the note to read it. Not only that but I have to use the scroll bar to see all of what I wrote because the comment box cannot be expanded. Plus any formatting is messed up. Dealing with multiple notes on a single page is painful in qpdfview.

You could give the daily debs a try. The tie the duration for which those are visible to the highlight duration used for SyncTeX which can be controlled via the settings dialog.
