currently the qpdfview.desktop
xdg-mime query default application/pdf
qpdfview.desktop
xdg-mime query default text/pdf
(nothing)
There are more mime types for PDF in use (unfortunately). And these types should be enlisted in the desktop file too probably.

Hello and thanks for reporting.
After some going through the W3 especially the FreeDesktop.org shared MIME database, I decided to enlarge the list of supported MIME types to "application/pdf; application/x-pdf; text/pdf; text/x-pdf; image/pdf; image/x-pdf;". The others look like their use should not be encouraged. But of course, if you really want to you can always change the launcher file by a system-wide or per-user override.
