Bug Description

I've got an Aol Mail account. I can read messages through IMAP, but when I try to send anything, I get a "Failed to send message. Recipient address <email address hidden> not accepted by the server" I tried several known email addresses; none work.

Have you tried changing servers to imap.aim.com and smtp.aim.com?

I just tried, and it did not work. I have always used smtp.aol.com in
Thunderbird,etc.

I don't see a place to change what port is used.

OK, I just upgraded to the daily build PPA, and I changed the port to
587. Still no luck though, it fails with the same error as before.

I set up a dummy aol mail account just to try and found out that it works using these settings:
address: <email address hidden>

Receiving server: imap.aim.com
username: <email address hidden> this could be your problem
sending server: smtp.aim.com
sending port: 587

This works here..

As of now port 465 is also an option for testing, secure SMTP supported by AOL.

I tried these settings, except that my email address ends in .com, and
it still had the same problem.
