Two-finger swipe left and right to move between columns

Are you talking about two-finger scrolling? Because that's already working for me if I enable it in System Settings.

Or do you mean something else?

Two-finger horizontal scrolling does indeed work fine. However, it's not very useful, because it doesn't scroll in stream-wide steps; instead, it makes it possible to have half a stream in the window vertically (that is, you can get the right-hand vertical half of one stream and the left-hand vertical half of the next). This is, in my opinion, not a useful thing :) If horizontal scrolling happened in stream-wide steps, or if Polly detected a "swipe" gesture and did the same thing as a left/right arrow press, then it'd be possible to switch between streams really easily, and that'd be lovely... :)
