Indicate on launcher icons if an app was updated

Bug Description
As a pre-cursor to auto-update (and just because some of us are paranoid) we need a way to indicate that an app has in fact been updated. Some kind of badge/indicator. This could also double as an indicator that the app is "new" (to you).
iOS 7 does this with a blue dot next to the description, similar to unread messages. iOS 6 had a little "new" banner across the top-right edge. Having trouble finding how Android or Windows Phone shows it.
I think it would probably make sense to do this in LibUnity, but I guess it doesn't have to be done there.
