white flash like frames at end of clips

Just for fun, try trimming the right edge of the clip and see if it still
flashes. If you have a small avi example, feel free to attach the file to
this bug report.

I can confirm this behavior. I see the white flashes. I'm guessing this is
a bug with MLT or FFmpeg. A work-around is to trim just a little bit off
the end of the video clip, and the white flash goes away. I will look into
the MLT bug list and see if this is already reported.

On another machine, Ubuntu 9.04, 32 bit, kernel 2.6.28-15, OpenShot from today's PPA (! great work) I suddenly noticed the flashes again. But trying to decide where they resided, at the end or at the beginning of the next shot, I noticed something strange.
The preview pane contained an image while the timeline indicator was in an 'emty' space (between two seperated shots). The zoom-factor was 2 secs.
I took a screenshot, but in the screenshot the preview pane is black. Could it be the timeline is not synchronised with the preview and that this somehow creates the flashes?

I had the same problems with mov, mpg, avi formats. The only work around I could find is to use oggconvert to convert to matroska. This allowed me to render without the white flash at the end, however the audio keeps going for a second or so.
I can't see this being an incompatible video file error. Another problem is the video preview works really slowly when I use these converted files.
I'm still working on finding other workarounds, however has any one else found other workarounds?

Similar problem with AVCHD in lucid beta2.
ffplay plays fine, though it still has "missing picture" issue.
melt gives white flash and this in log:

I experience a similar error (the same?) with videos created by OpenShot 1.1.3 on ubuntu 9.10 2.6.31-22-generic #63-Ubuntu SMP on a 64bit machine.

The "flashes" are sometimes almost a second long though the two tracks overlap and are connected with a "fractal 4" effect (appears also with other effects).

I have a different behaviour than described in the original bug report: I see white frames also in videos played by VLC and totem.

I am inserting AVCHD material into the tracks without previous conversion. This makes scrolling in the preview difficult anyhow (grey shading effects when scrolling manually), but also the export is effected.

I tried different resolutions - this does not influence the bug.
As video codec, I am using mp4, libx264. I also tried matroska, libx264 - with the same effect.
