Bug Description

Hello,

I'm a Hebrew user. I now upgraded to Dapper from Breezy. In Breezy, the interface of OpenOffice was very nice.

Now I opened OOWriter, and it looked a bit strange. Nothing was written in the font selection text boxes. After you clicked a menu, it didn't disappear.

I think that it's related to the fact that on Breezy, the buttons on top were ordered from left to right. Now they are ordered from right to left, and it doesn't work very well.

Working that way will be a pain for right to left users - it should be solved.

Forwarded from duplicate #51495:

"When using OpenOffice.org with a Hebrew language-pack GNOME (doesn't have to be a Hebrew OO.o, the bug happens even when you leave openoffice on the English language pack, but use the Hebrew one for the rest of Ubuntu) the drop-down menus in the tool bars (e.g. font, font size, styles) are messed up - the arrow button graphic does not match the text box graphics (button's curved side is facing the text box's curved side, instead of straight side facing straight side) and the text in the text box's isn't visible at all.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Hebrew language pack.
2. Open an OpenOffice.org program."

I reported this to the OO.o bugzilla (http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=70152), but I'm not sure the problem is in OO.o - it happens even without openoffice.org-l10n-he installed - a Hebrew GNOME is enough - as shown in attached screenshot.

For comparison, GNOME running in C locale, started OOo with

Self-compiled 2.0.4~rc2-1ubuntu6 running on dapper.

Noam,

If I understand this bug correctly I think it might be solved in Ubuntu 7.10 OpenOffice 2.3.0. Can you please try out the new version and let me know if it solves your problem?

Thanks,

Hello Chris,

I'm currently using Ubuntu 7.04 and OpenOffice 2.2.0, and the
interface is from right to left and works ok. (I hope you forgive me
that I didn't mark the bug as fixed.)

Thanks,
Noam
