Editing 2007 DOC file with form fields changed checkbox into garbage text upon saving of file, inserts {FormFieldText}

Can you please try reproducing this problem with the official openoffice.org at http://openoffice.org/ then report this bug upstream at http://www.openoffice.org/issues/query.cgi as the problem is hard for me to reproduce it would be better if you worked with the OpenOffice.org developers directly on this problem. After reporting the problem in their bugtracker please attach the bug number to this bug report. Thanks!

I see this also in OpenOffice.org 3.0.1.

Scroll down and click on a checkbox or something. Save it and close it, then re-open it and scroll down.

Instead of checkboxes and text fields you'll see FORMCHECKBOX and FORMTEXT.

It does appear to work if I first do a file->save as, and save the document in .odt format first.

i have the same problem in Ubuntu 9.10 i386 Desktop with OOo 3.1.1 (1:3.1.1-5ubuntu1).
I can open and edit the attached file nicely but when i save the file in the same format (doc) and reopen, all the fields are messed up. I see FORMTEXT prepended to each field i modified.

peculiar..
open the file, "Company" field will have FORMTEXT (1st prepend)
modify any other place or field, save reopen
"Company" field will have "FORMTEXT FORMTEXT" (another prepend)
and so on.

this is a messy bug..

checked a checkbox -> saved document in Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc) -> close file -> reopen and notice the checkbox remains checked. Does this work for you?

Sorry, this thread is so old, the problem lasting, that I had to change platforms. I still use versions of OOo, but not in a work environment.

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
