Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-writer

When I arrange an image in the background using the setting "no floating" (german: "Umlauf aus") and specify "behind text", the image is displayed correctly in the background and text written is shown on top of the image. When I click-drag the cursor to select parts of the text, though, the selection will not extend past the outline of the background image. When I use keyboard shortcuts (Shift + cursor keys) to select text, the issue does not come up.

Do you still have this problem with the new version of OOo in the ppa at https://launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive ?

Oops, my mistake. I forgot to include the version information:
I'm using OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 (OOO300m15, Build 9379) via the launchpad repository (so it's "yes" to your question).

since I noticed the same issue I'm attaching a document as requested. The text can be selected if I move the pointer on the other end of the image, but I can't select the test "mid-image" so to say.

Still in 3.1, I suffer the same issue.
One possible solution may be that background image get only selected if you use graphic cursor explicitely.

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.

Since this bug hasn't been touched in a while and the Incomplete autoclose didn't work, I'm going to close it.

If you can still reproduce on a new version of Ubuntu, please reopen it.
