Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

When you right-click a frame in OpenOffice 2.4.0, access the frame properties, and click on the macro-tab, you are lost in a dialogue telling you to install openoffice.org-java-common. Clicking "Ok" or the cross in the top right corner of the dialodue does not get you anywhere...

I tried to install openoffice.org-java-common, while the dialogue was still open with no success. I had to kill the process.

Did it work after openoffice.org-java-common was installed and the program run again? You have to restart openoffice.org after installing that package for it to take effect. The fact that it crashes without the java packages installed probably can't really be fixed.

However the package is not installed in a default Hardy installation. OpenOffice does not really crash, there's just no way out of this alert box. You can hit "ok" a million times and the alert box will reappear over and over again. All you can do is kill OO with a high chance of data lost.

Why is this bug 'Triaged'?

The bug already has an upstream bug attached and upstream have discussed what is wrong with the program. Thus it is good enough to be treated as triaged.

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
