I'm not 100% sure, that this bug is identical to upstream openoffice-bugs #46305 - that bug is reproducible in all OOo 2.x versions, while this bug is about differences between 2.3 and 2.4. Btw, attached PDF files contains different fonts:
1. PDF exported from OpenOffice.org 2.3, Ubuntu 7.10 has Type1 Helvetica fonts, which are not embedded into PDF
2. PDF exported from OpenOffice.org 2.4, Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy contains embedded Type1 NimbusSansL fonts

Victor Osadci, this issue seems resolved in LibreOffice Writer via the Terminal:

cd ~/Desktop && wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/210184/+attachment/250349/+files/PDF-export-test.odt && unoconv --listener && unoconv -f pdf PDF-export-test.odt && ls --size --human-readable | grep PDF-export-test

24K PDF-export-test.odt
12K PDF-export-test.pdf

Does this work for you?

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.

Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. This Ubuntu release has reached EOL for Desktops.

Since this bug hasn't been touched in a while and the Incomplete autoclose didn't work, I'm going to close it.

If you can still reproduce on a new version of Ubuntu, please reopen it.
