Bug Description
I was using Ubuntu Intrepid with OO 2.4 and give the ppa.launchpad version 3 a test. It runs fine, but then I decided to install all the suite. I don't really know what packaged did this, but now I can't get OpenOffice to work, doesn't matter the version. Even the shortcuts are gone, after installing and reinstalling again and again, with ou without rebooting.
When I call soffice in terminal it gives
=====
[Java framework] Error in function createSettingsD
=====
as root or regular user. The splash screen is black with the "User interface language cannot be determined" error message and everything is closed as soon as I click OK.
My .openoffice2 and .openoffice folders were with the right permissions, but it also doesn't matter, even if I delete them the errors are the same.
/usr/lib/openoffice and every folder related with OpenOffice I found is OK with permissions.
Did you make sure to install the 'openoffice.org' package and openjdk-6-jre. Those two might help, but I have never seen the issue you are talking about.
