Bug Description

Hi Stephan!

According to log it seems that the configuration file is not used.

Hi!

I have problem with xserver after r2066 ( which works fine).
At some point you removed some patches from xorg-server, I think it
was extra-modeline, or so ( it seems r2076 )
After that, I can't set my TV's 1366x768 resolution ( in the xorg.log there
is a message that the resolution can't be set. i will give you the output when I get home )
r2066 was the last build which works on my television set.

Can you make me some advice, or discuss about this
topic?

Andras

was:PS: Notice I'm trying to use the "official" support site, right? :)

At least it seem it's using it built in configuration.
Is there a change in file name?

Hi Andras,

yes thats true, the configfile is not used at the moment. this is related to uxlaunch. i will fix this the next hour (if there are no problems). do you use special options in your xorg.conf? if so can i have the options or can we include them generally to openelec?

here is my configuration file

I need the option metamodes ... line for my monitor to be able to switch to its native mode.
otherwise nvidia-autoselect would choose 1280x1024 which is clearly not its native
mode.
( Don't know, but it's is a crappy old thomson lcd, even does not have any hdmi, only
vga. -it's 3 years old, but at that time it was already an abandoned product.)

what do you think, if i include this line, does this work also on other
systems?

im trying to patch uxlaunch, but this does not work as expected, but i
think i have an other idea. if i do more such things then i can program
C :-)

I don't think you can abandon the possibility of configuring xorg.
I've read a lot of people struggling to set up their television using 24p and other
things through xorg. if you don't let them to configure it, they will setup an ubuntu
instead :)

What's the reason behind ignoring a configration file?

Anyway I think, probably modeline patch can be removed. Modelines can be specified
in xorg.conf if configuration of xorg itself is supported :)

uxlaunch starts xorg server like xinit, startx & co. does . also it
starts the session like gdm, moblin, kdm and userspecific sessions
(openelec now starts /usr/bin/xbmc-session). uxlaunch also supports
starting xorg and the session with user rights (not working in openelec
at this time - but i will do this in the future) i can setup an session,
the user and the console for xorg, but not xorg configure options. but
this is needed for managing various config files like openelec does. all
options to xorg are hardcoded in the source, but i can change this. i am
trying to add an option to uxlaunch for choosing xorg configfile to start.

Andras,

can you test r2365. now its hopefully works. i have not tested with ION
build, because i must do an full rebuild, but with intel build i can set
an configfile.

if your latest build is r2357 you must also do an "PROJECT=ION
./scripts/install cmake" first and also rebuild xbmc, because i have do
an change to cmake yesterday. for the changes to uxlaunch you must also
rebuild uxlaunch

can you test this and write me an message if xorg works (for you)?

greetings

Stephan

p.s: there is also hardwarecursor on, i know this and will this change
later (today).
