Bug Description
When typing a new url into the Firefox browser address box the focus seems to drop until the same character is typed again.
So for example to type in www.google.com I needed to type wwwwww.

See the attached video, out-2.ogv. I think this perfectly captures your problem.
Notice that to type "www.google.com" requires 2 clicks of each letter. The 2nd click of each letter causes the firefox history drop down to disappear.
It looks like that the focus is lost when the Firefox History Drop Down enables. I've tried disabling this and that seems to fix the issue temporarily.
To Disable Drop Down history:
Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest: Nothing
The issue can be avoided all together by using a USB keyboard on the nexus7
I'll link this with Onboard and get marmutas take on it. If its a problem with firefox then I can file an upstream bug accordingly. I don't have any other Ubuntu "Touch" devices to compare this with.
