Bug Description

Hi

Nice app, but one feature I miss from soundconverter is the ability to select a folder and oggconverter read and convert all of files the folder has. I find this usefull when converting mp3 folders.

Thanks for this tool and please package it in next ubuntu realease :)

Hi kmon,

A batch conversion mode seems to be the most popular feature request for OggConvert! It's definitely something I plan to add, although unfortunately I haven't got much free time at the moment to work on it.

As to packaging it for Ubuntu, I'd love for that to happen but I have no idea how to go about it

importance: Undecided → Wishlist

Hi

Thanks for your response. Someone has already asked for the packaging: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/114821, so hopefully it will be in the next ubuntu release.

thanks.

It's been over 3 years, and it still is not implemented AFAIK. I'd love to see this feature (as I am converting my whole collection to free formats) and I would implement it myself, if it were programmed in a language I am familiar with. =P

Had to convert my Quake2 soundtrack to ogg to use with yquake2 and also found it annoying, that oggconvert could handle only one file at a time. The way the code is written it is more than a small patch to full directory support though.

I approached it by creating a list of input files you can add (or drop) files into or remove them. The output filename field is gone. Output names are based on input, only the output directory can be set. The transcoding settings are the same for all files. After one file is transcoded the "success" message still pops up and you need to click it away. I was thinking of changing the progress stuff to a simple progressbar in a statusbar. I changed the glade file format to GTK Builder and probably (at least partially) broke i18n in the process. Also the input media detection is somewhat limited now and just based on mime-type detection.

Find the branch here: https://code.launchpad.net/~fdemmer/oggconvert/trunk

I am happy to accept patches, especially for i18n!
