GNOME crashed when resuming from sleep in NVIDIA performance mode with disconnecting dell-wd19tb-dock

I made this patch by the changes from https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/merge_requests/443/ for xorg-server-hwe-18.04 in bionic, and it works.

The attachment "Modesetting-do-not-stop-on-EnterVT-when-connectors-have-disapeared.patch" seems to be a patch. If it isn't, please remove the "patch" flag from the attachment, remove the "patch" tag, and if you are a member of the ~ubuntu-reviewers, unsubscribe the team.

I have tested xorg-server/2:1.20.8-2ubuntu2.1 in focal-proposed and it can fix this issue.

All autopkgtests for the newly accepted xorg-server (2:1.20.8-2ubuntu2.1) for focal have finished running.
The following regressions have been reported in tests triggered by the package:

I didn't see any crash log under /var/crash after this issue happened so bug 1421808 / bug 1787332 / bug 1787338 might be irrelevant.

I have tested xorg-server-hwe-18.04 2:1.20.8-2ubuntu2.1~18.04.1 in bionic-proposed and it can fix the issue.

The verification of the Stable Release Update for xorg-server has completed successfully and the package is now being released to -updates. Subsequently, the Ubuntu Stable Release Updates Team is being unsubscribed and will not receive messages about this bug report. In the event that you encounter a regression using the package from -updates please report a new bug using ubuntu-bug and tag the bug report regression-update so we can easily find any regressions.

This bug was fixed in the package xorg-server - 2:1.20.8-2ubuntu2.1

Note the fix is released in focal-updates, but still stuck in groovy-proposed.

But I have exact the same behaviour - see my bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-460/+bug/1935951

It is almost a similar hardconfiguration - I think - using a WD19DC instead of a WD19TB docking station and Dell 15' 128GB RAM + NVIDIA RTX 5000 16GB with Ubuntu 20.04LTS

Unfortunately, my bug is still in State incomplete as I do not get any
X11 crash file in /var/crash/ ; Only the nvidia error in the Xorg.log files with X11 restart and I upload all kinds of files

Running X11 session exits sometimes with EnterVT failed with an NVIDIA error
"- Setting a mode on head 1 failed: Invalid surface parameters" and (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to enter VT (mode initialization failed)

Do you think a similar patch can be done in my case?
In the mergerequest https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/merge_requests/443/ I posted a question if my bug is related to your mergerequest but was denied (a nvidia only bug according to M.Dänzer)
