Bug Description
After upgrading from 10.10 to 11.04, Ubuntu gets stuck on displaying the boot splash. Switching to command line (CTRL-ALT-F2) didn't work either.
I could resolve the problem by booting into safe mode and manually installing the propritary NVidia driver. (The Noveau driver isn't worth bothering since i require 3D and CUDA support).
Hardware is an Alienware M15x with a NVidia GTX460m graphics card. The driver on 10.10 was also manually installed, since i had the same problem back then.
Probable workaround: On systems with an NVidia graphics card offer to install the graphics card driver *before* booting into the system.
