no progress indicator

The latest stable release of NitroShare (0.2) should display a progress indicator when transferring multiple files. It should also display a progress indicator for individual file transfers on every platform except Windows (for some reason, writing to a socket works a little differently on that platform).

Since progress display for a single file transfer on Windows is broken, I will keep this bug open until a workaround is implemented because I can totally understand the frustration of not being able to see how much of the file has been transferred.

I was confused because I didn't see the progress indicator and I am using version 0.2, but now I discovered that the progress indicator is part of the sharebox. I used the indicator (the one in the top panel in Ubuntu) and then you don't have a progress indicator. Is it an idea to put the progress indicator in the indicator itself as well? (I don't like the sharebox sitting on my desktop (sorry :P), especially since I use 4 workspaces and the sharebox is on only one of them, )

I began to think about this some more and perhaps the best idea would be a tiny overlay in the corner of the screen with a progress bar. This would only be displayed if the transfer was initiated by the tray icon / indicator. If the user used a share box, then the progress would still be displayed there.

This is basically just an idea I am tossing around in my head, but it would definitely solve the problem if implemented properly.

I think it would solve the problem. However for ubuntu it would be very nice (and make more sense imho) to show the progress of the transfers initiated in the indicator, in the indicator itself, like Ubuntu One does. Sorry for the necropost - could I suggest that percentage completion, data transferred etc. is displayed on mouseover of the tray icon, similar to Dropbox's functionality?

Actually, I am currently in the process of rewriting NitroShare in Qt5 and I've decided to move away from the tray/AppIndicator approach. I've moved the core networking code into a separate shared library and most of the GUI dialogs and widgets into another shared library. Although there will be an official NitroShare client written in Qt5 that uses the two shared libraries, by separating the code, the possibility opens up for others to easily write a NitroShare client application.

As for the actual bug (no progress indicator), I do plan to implement this on the official NitroShare client (both for sending and receiving files). However, the point I wanted to make was that anyone else writing a NitroShare client could easily implement this. Also, there are plans for a D-Bus API.
