Bug Description

Ubuntu some times when start the system turn so slowly, in the system monitor the memory is 400 mb or more, the half of my ram (I use a netbook) later if reboot the system the consume of memory is normal 160 mb more less.

I don't understand what happen, in the tab of resources the memory percent is of 400 and the process no one have that use of memory (obviously the sum of the memory of each process not are 400).

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project.

- This is a bug and not a papercut.
For further information about papercuts criteria, please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut.

Don't worry though, this bug has been marked as "Invalid" only in the papercuts project.

In the day or so I have had problems with the Netbook remix being slow to respond and not redrawing the desktop when closing or minimising applications.

I experiencing several system pauses, where the applications are becoming unresponsive for 5-10 seconds. These pauses were after the netbook remix desktop stopped redrawing itself. I accessed the gnome menu using Alt-F1 (to run gedit as I could not get to the desktop) and the system hung for about 20 seconds. The panel died and after about 10 seconds reappeared and started to redraw itself. After a few more seconds the system was back to normal performance and the netbook remix desktop draws itself and general performance is back to normal.

I have experienced issues with windows not always opening fully maximised, but this is a relatively rare occurrence.

I am running Ubuntu remix 9.10 with the latest updates on an Eee PC 1000. The only 3rd party sources added are for chromium, which was not running at the time. I was running Firefox, a java webstart application called Hudson, a terminal and gedit (eventually). None of the applications were affected apart from the slowness of the system.

In the syslog for this morning I found the following related to gnome-sesson / netbook-launche processes. My system is called gkar:
