netbook-launcher crashes incessantly under vmware

Bug Description

netbook launcher obviously struggles with the fades under vmware (at least without the vmware-tools, which currently won't compile on intrepid) and crashes after switching tabs a few times.

I had hoped to demonstrate it as a potential future desktop but would have preferred that it were able to run in a virtualised environment. I have ordered a netbook to try a native install nonetheless.

Note: I'm not sure how netbook-launcher relates to ume-launcher; it seems the latter is not installable on intrepid.

Hi,

Netbook-launcher is not guaranteed to run well under WMWare because it requires OpenGL and VMWare does not support GL acceleration. However, if you could send a stack trace or xorg log after this happens, I can determine what's causing this.

I'm marking this as a duplicate of #320796, and I've just committed some support for a "low graphics" mode to the launcher (details available on that bug).

It's not going to be great, but you should at least be able to run the launcher without major issues, and get a slight performance boost.
