Bug Description

Hi,
hopefully not a duplicate as this sounds to me like a rather vital or expected feature.
Also not sure this feature request affects music app only.

However, I would like to ask for adding support for switching or pausing track using headphone buttons.
Multiple types of headphones have to be considered as I own one button only headphones and others may have separate buttons for "previous", "pause", "next". In case of one button headphones double click should probably switch the track, single click pause it as it is on Android.

Do you have any thoughts on this? How hard would it be to implement this? Does this require any system changes or does it affect music app only?

Thanks for your ideas and opinions.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

This particular bug is a duplicate of either bug 1472716 or bug 1231909, which will both be possible when background-playlists support is complete as then indicator-sound can control the music-app and then capture media keys.

I'm going to mark this as a duplicate of bug 1231909, due that directly mentioning headphone controls, so it is being marked as such. Please look at the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug. Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in the other report. Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may find.
