Bug Description
The sidebar currently shows the text (for example: transfers) at the top of the sidebar, and also shows the selected icon at the bottom of the sidebar. To save some space and eliminate redundancy, perhaps the selector (icons) should be moved to the top of the sidebar where the text currently sits.
This would also make sense in the context of a static notebook, since in most other apps, tabs are displayed at the top of an area instead of at the bottom.

It could also be smaller if the top part of if the panes were switched to a selector, this means removing the bottom bar and putting its functions where the text is on the top of the sidebar.
