Bug Description
when I load the unity-2d session there is a grey background between lightdm and the wallpaper.
to provide a flickerless experience I believe this background should be black and not grey.
it is due to the xrender compositor of metacity.. attached there is a patch to fix this glitch.

I can confirm the patch really works.
Not that I had tested it with Unity-2d.
But I have tested in with the fallback session of Gnome-shell (Gnome-panel) and the annoying flickering is gone.
I use Nvidia graphics card and nvidia-current drivers.
