package versions not shown after upgrade to 8.04

Bug Description

Before the ugrade to Hardy, updates where listed by Synaptic with the corresponding package versions:

ffmpeg - from ffmpeg-1.1.1 to ffmpeg-1.1.2

Now, after the upgrade, there is no way to see this. The description for the changes is missing for Medibuntu packages, and the description of the package does not include its version.

So there's no way for us to:
 * know the version of the package we're updating to
 * go elsewhere and check for issues with the new version before updating

See attached screenshot of Synaptic.

Hi,

At the beginning of the bug report, you spoke of Synaptic, but the screenshot seems to be from update-manager (Synaptic lists the package versions, update-manager doesn't iirc).
The description of the package doesn't include its version because it doesn't actually "describe" the package, and it's no use for someone who wants to know what the package installs.

The changelogs are available at http://www.medibuntu.org/changelogs/
For ffmpeg, it's http://www.medibuntu.org/changelogs/pool/free/f/ffmpeg/current.hardy/changelog

Anyway, I agree that the changelogs aren't very visible (and that we should set up a front-end like packages.ubuntu.com).

Yes, my fault. This bug belongs to update-manager.

But, you're wrong, update-manager used to show the package
versions. And also, if you expand the 'Description of
update' you'd notice that most updates (except those from
medibuntu) carry the corresponding changelog entries for
this update.

Yes the longer detailed description is not the right place
for the package version, but this information should be
shown somewhere in update-manager.

This is OK, but is not related with the issue with
update-manager.

Knowing to which version you're updating to and what changes
or bug fixes are included in the new version are things that
should be shown by update-manager.

Because this information is available for other ubuntu
updates, I assumed it was a problem with the medibuntu
packages. I may be wrong.
