Bug Description

After installing todays updates (using Update Manager) 30 Jan 2009, required reboot, all sound stopped working on my Acer Aspire 5630 (5633wmli) with ALC883 sound card.
Tinkering with alsa config (+reboot) made work again (see below).

Command line output
$ lsb_release -rd

@PapyRobert, It seems you have a different sound card that David so you should open a new bug report. I have an iMac 9,1 with the same problem: no audio from internal speakers or headphone jack. The solution did not fix my problem, and I think you mean "/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf"
