Bug Description

It would be good to send email updates for the following:

1) When a team event is created, an email can be sent to the team's mailing list

2) When a team event is updates, an email can be sent to either a team's mailing list, or just individuals who have registered for the event.

It might be an idea, however two things spring to mind. If a person creates an event and makes a mistake after it's published the event has been mailed out.

Secondly I'd rather have the email sent to the person who created it, and they can then forward it on to the list or whoever.

I don't believe this should be part of the LoCo directory but instead the loco-council be subscribed to all mailing lists with nomail set set so announcements can be sent out. Bringing this into the LoCo Directory will involve unrequired development work in my opinion.

I agree with Jono. LoCo teams are already complaining to us that there is somewhat of a firehose of information coming from all different angles. If the LoCo Council can send announcements directly to the list that the teams already use, I suspect they're more likely to read and digest it. It also gives them an easy way to get back in contact with us, because if we send mail _from_ the loco-council@ list account then they can simply hit reply-all and continue dialog with us.

Jono and Alan, this request is for team events, not global events... I would like it if when an event is created for my LoCo team, that I got an email announcing it with a link to RSVP...

It could also be made a manual opt-in thing, so that only those that would like the links could receive them.

That was what I was envisioning Chris. A system similar to LP where you could simply hit Subscribe/Unsubscribe for a Team or Event.

I would find some sort of subscribe function much easier than what I'm currently doing, logging in every X amount of time just to see if anything has changed. Even if it was a manual "subscribe to this meeting/event" button it would be a good idea.

Has there been any progress with this?

We already do have RSS feeds, would improving this be a better solution than emails? Because, I'm not a fan of LTP mailing people. Already folks complain about too much email. And RSS feeds are opt-in and almost fits the problem. Not everyone is a fan of their inbox becoming bigger.
