Cinnamon 1.4 crashes with nvidia-current-280.13-0ubuntu6.1

Bug Description

After upgrade to nvidia-current 280.13-0ubuntu6.1, My Linux Mint 12 Cinnamon 1.4 desktop won't fully load. I looked in logs
and saw that cinnamon was crashing with entries like this:

cinnamon[2399]: segfault at 50 ip 00007fd4f6e55003 sp 00007fff2ae4f450 error 4 in libcogl.so.5.0.0[7fd4f6e07000+71000]

This happens every time I try it.

Upon reverting nvidia-current to 280.13-0ubuntu6 the problem goes away.

I am running a custom built 3.2.14 unpatched kernel from kernel.org. This kernel has never caused any problems previously.

64-bit arch running on AMD Phenom II X2 555. Video hardware is nVidia 8800GTS.

Cinnamon also crashes with Linux Mint LMDE 64bit, nVidia GTX560M

I want to report the same bug, but in my case it was with Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon, the desktop won't launch but goes in Fallback mode instead, after installing NVIDIA 304.132 (Recommended driver), with MATE enviroment it works properly in all versions of Mint.

An other bug that I've seen is that Steam won't launch after installing NVIDIA driver.

@edgarkhxz7 After back to old kernels the driver work again.
Appears latest driver incompatibility.
