Bug Description

Usually when I come into work I'll open Firefox, check my e-mail, then open Skype. Occassionally it stops the mouse from moving completely and I have to do a hard shutdown (holding power key for 10 seconds). Don't ever have anything else open, usually it's just Skype being opening. System is Linux Mint 12 with Gnome...no major package changes to the system other than Samba.

Please help, system is super stable otherwise but the randomness of this is killing me.

Regards,
Robert

I don't know whether I should post here, because I use opensuse XFCE. But I have a similar problem. In approximate 80 % Skype freezes the system after I start it. After a few minutes Skype ends itself. When I start Skype the second time it works fine.

I started skype from the terminal. Skype freezed again. I waited some minutes and skype stopped itself. In the terminal appeared the message "Not enough memory". But I have 4 GB RAM.

Happens also on Ubuntu 11.10 (x64); opening from a terminal the message "Not enough memory" is displayed. There are a number of "pulseaudio" messages in the syslog.

After following the advice in the thread linked in the skype community, disabling the login sound seems to have helped somewhat and this has not occurred so often (today was the first time for a while).
