Totem will not play audio CDs

When trying to play an audio cd, first, the Play Disc 'Audio Disk' is greyed out. Second, when trying to run it from the command line with 'totem cdda://cdrom0' or from Nautilus clicking on the first track, a window in totem pops up saying that an error occured and the that playback of this "movie" requires an Audio CD plugin which is not installed. Googling around, I can find no such plugin nor is there an option for such in the plugin manager within Totem.
