Bug Description
Running Betsy Cinnamon 64 bit
I installed Virtualbox from the Oracle web site as I couldn't see version 5.0 in the repositories. As Betsy is based on Debian Jessie i believed that the Jessie version was the most likely to work and avoid any dependency issues. I've now been prompted to "upgrade" to the latest version as Ubuntu as alphabetically later than Debian.
$ apt-cache policy virtualbox-5.0
virtualbox-5.0:
Installed: 5.0.0-101573~
Candidate: 5.0.0-101573~
Version table:
5.
700 http://
*** 5.0.0-101573~
100 /var/lib/
I'd expect to see a Debian package rather than an Ubuntu package in LMDE if one exists.
Is this why /etc/apt/ preferences. d/official- package- repositories. pref has a Pin for "release o=Ubuntu"?
As a workaround, the OP could set the Ubuntu pin to 499 instead of 500.
