Bug Description

Laptop details.
HP 1b10au
AMD dual core A4, 2gb RAM
linux mint 17 (updated to 17.1)

The bug noticed after updating to 17.1 rebecca. It is happening quite often that the desktop freezes and the wallpaper suddenly changes back to the default grey one with linux mint menioned on it. The last I remember this happening was when I connected my smartphone through USB and enabled USB tethering on my phone to browse internet on my laptop. The desktop forze for around 30 seconds and then reverted back to normal but leaving the screen wallpaper changed to default.

The bug persists in Linux Mint 17.3.Cinnamon. For some reason, Nemo crashes regularly. But there is also a pretty good change for a crash when updating Keyboard Shortcuts. And after each crash I need to change the background again.

My workaround is copying my preferred wallpaper to /usr/share/backgrounds/linuxmint/default_background.jpg. Not really a solution, but I no longer need to change background after each freeze.

BTW, my impression is that crashes occur after a number of file operations. Nemo tends to get slower towards a crash.
