no spinning Gtk spinner with Mint-X controls

Bug Description
Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon 32-bit. Mint-X controls
1. Select Mint-X theme for controls
2. Run example program at https:/
3. Click Start/Stop button
Nothing happened
I expected the spinner to spin
Translated the program to gjs with same problem. Then I decided to change the theme - with Adwaita controls, the spinner spins as it should. Changed controls theme back to Mint-X and got a non-spinning spinner.
