Bug Description

When selecting print to file the window comes up with default filename and the default print location of /home/{user}. When selecting other from the drop down menu, the user is prompted with a browsing window. When I browser to the folder I want and click "Open", the Print to file window updates to the proper location and then allows me to print it to file. (PDF) The problem is it prints to /home/{user} instead of the selected location.

The solution is not go into the folder you want to print it in, when in the Browsing window. Instead, from the parent folder, select the folder you want and click open. This updates the Print to file properly and prints to the correct location.

A suggestion to this whole process is to retain the last folder selected so the user can print multiple pages without having to go through the selection process over again.

Linux Mint Mate 14 64bit 3.5.0-17-generic

Thanks

I'm also seeing this on Kubuntu 13.04. I also hit this bug when selecting one of my "favourites" directly from the print dialogue box (i.e. without opening the file browser window). As the original report, in this case, files also are saved to ~. As per the report, selecting via the file browser window works.

Also, when opening up a new print dialogue box, the previous selection appears not to be respected. The pop-up where the directory is selected is blank. This appears to be a regression, as previous version worked, both in saving to the correct location, and saving the previous directory. I can't quite recall when I first saw this issue. It may have been in the update to 13.04.

I just realised this was file against Mint, whereas I see it with a different distro/DE. Also, I have only noticed it in Firefox, so it might be specific to that? Kyle Peters, do you also only see it in Firefox?

Its the same printing dialog box for PDFs and Firefox. I can't remember what I orginally found the problem in, I think firefox. This must be a problem with base OS and not with the IDE then.

I can reproduce this bug using print to file dialog from pluma in Linuxmint 15 -64.

I have attached a screen cap of trying to print to file to subdirectory 'computer' from pluma that I had previously saved to 'financial' - note how I get warning about overwriting file in 'computer'

For some reason it is using last path used and not currently selected path - as per OP if I set path using 'other' instead of one of the caja or nautilus 'bookmarks' that appears in the dropdown 'Save in folder' list, then it saves to the correct path.

Also when the print dialog is first called up the "Save in folder" dropdown box is blank. I compared this with ubuntu 11.04 vmware copy I have; in 11.04 dropdown box is populated with last used directory and correctly stores to new directory if one is chosen from dropdown list.

I can reproduce the bug on a totally stock clean install of linuxmint15-64 running in vmware.

I cannot find anything in /var/log files to give a clue of error and this bug is 6 months old and still 'unconfirmed'. I will post to linuxmint forums to see if I can generate a little interest in this, as I don't know what else to do to track down error....
