Bug Description
2 issues actually
1) If I install LMDE on a laptop and setup the first wifi passphrase connection, then another user on the laptop has to enter MY PASSWORD (not root's) before they are allowed to touch the config/passphrase for network handling. I've given the other user all groups that I have (via vigr) and that is not sufficient. I assume some odd polkit setting needed. I also assume that this is not common because most Mint users install on their laptop and don't rig their personal laptop up for other people to use. This happens all of the time (repeatable). I've setup 3 laptops and this behavior happens on all of them. It's the wrong behavior because I should be able to have another userid on a laptop and have that user access a wifi hotspot w/o entering my personal password.
2) At a wifi site I was given the wrong passphrase to enter and thrashed for awhile. I get 3 different windows asking for either root/my password or the passphrase for the wifi. The passphrase for the wifi window comes in both a grey and a white flavor. Often both pop up, though one behind everything else so it is not visible unless you look at the taskbar and see all of the extraneous passphrase request windows. This happens most of the time if you enter the passphrase wrong a couple of times or more. It is very disconcerting to have different windows pop up asking for the passphrase.
I'm using LMDE w/ Cinnamon, all current.
HACK SOLUTION: Uninstall broken network-manager and revert to wicd daemon and clients.
