Nightingale / MP3 / Possibly ATI drivers

A few days have been spent on this over at the Nightingale Forums.

In a nutshell, Nightingale (http://getnightingale.com) worked OK under Mint 12, but has proved impossible under Mint 13 (Cinnamon).

The complete details are in the forum thread, but we ran into a LOT of dependency issues, and someone finally concluded that there was "a problem between the ATI driver and nightingale."

Nightingale ran fine with Mint 12, so I'm assuming the issue is with Mint 13, or the change from Gnome to Cinnamon.

I do not have the knowledge to assess some of the questions raised.

This is a fresh install of Mint Linux 13 "Maya" Cinnamon (with codecs)
