If there are no key events with either acpi_listen nor input_events, then this needs to be fixed at the kernel level. However, to make sure, can you please run through /usr/share/doc/udev/README.keymap.txt to check all possible/plausible input event sources?

I make all through /usr/share/doc/udev/README.keymap.txt.
There are:

1) leo@leo-laptop:~$ cat /sys/class/dmi/id/sys_vendor
    Acer
    leo@leo-laptop:~$ cat /sys/class/dmi/id/product_name
    Aspire 5110
2) Key mapping. Pressing multimedia keys don't give any result, but other keys do it.
    leo@leo-laptop:~$ sudo /lib/udev/keymap -i input/event5
    Press ESC to finish
scan code: 0x25 key code: k
scan code: 0xB0 key code: volumeup
scan code: 0xD9 key code: brightnessup
scan code: 0x25 key code: k
scan code: 0x24 key code: j
scan code: 0x39 key code: space
scan code: 0x42 key code: f8
scan code: 0x01 key code: esc
    leo@leo-laptop:~$
3) Files "orig-map.txt" and "udev-db.txt" are attached.

Should I do a new bug at https://bugs.launchpad.net/udev-extras/+bugs?

Can somebody affected by this bug please report it upstream to http://bugzilla.kernel.org/

I don't think Ubuntu can fix this bug as fast as upstream can. Please test the steps lined out in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting against a lucid live CD. Let me know if you need help.

When you're done, please post the link to the ticket here.

Hi Leo,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 355819

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
