EntryResource._applyChanges()'s exceptions may be caught and turned into 404 responses

Bug Description

That method may raise a ComponentLookupError (subclass of NotFoundError). If that happens, the exception is propagated up the chain until it's caught and turned into a 404 making it extremely difficult to find out what went wrong.
