2005-09-06 09:19:38 Björn Tillenius description The way Malone displays URLs in bug pages at times causes excess width and horizontal scrolling. The page https://launchpad.ubuntu.com/malone/bugs/351/ is an example (but I could just use a link to Bugzilla's buglist.cgi URLs and we'd have a great example). In fact, why not? https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced&short_desc_type=allwordssubstr&short_desc=&product=Bugzilla&long_desc_type=substring&long_desc=&bug_file_loc_type=allwordssubstr&bug_file_loc=&status_whiteboard_type=allwordssubstr&status_whiteboard=&keywords_type=allwords&keywords=&bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&bug_status=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=REOPENED&emailassigned_to1=1&emailtype1=exact&email1=kiko%40async.com.br&emailassigned_to2=1&emailreporter2=1&emailqa_contact2=1&emailtype2=exact&email2=&bugidtype=include&bug_id=&votes=&chfieldfrom=&chfieldto=Now&chfieldvalue=&cmdtype=doit&order=Reuse+same+sort+as+last+time&field0-0-0=noop&type0-0-0=noop&value0-0-0= Ironically, the first bug in that list is "Bugzilla pages are too wide". Heh. The way Malone displays URLs in bug pages at times causes excess width and horizontal scrolling. Heh. This problems also exists for the "latest bugs in..." portlet. If the bug title contains a long URL, the portlet, along with every other portlet on the same side, gets really wide. (e.g https://launchpad.net/products/rosetta). Opera breaks URLs on slashes, so both bug #351 and https://launchpad.net/products/rosetta look fine there, but it doesn't break the query part in the buzilla URL. jamesh suggested inserting <wbr> tags as hints for the browser. This works for Mozilla, but not for Opera.

This works for Mozilla, but not for Opera. Long words in bug reports overlap into the right column of the page -- and sometimes beyond, causing horizontal scrolling. Sometimes these words are URLs, such as "https://launchpad.ubuntu.com/distros/ubuntu/hoary/+sources/prebaseconfig/+pots/pkgconf-prebaseconfig" in bug 351. Sometimes they are not URLs, such as "OoÒÓÔÕÖØòóôõöøŌōŎŏŐőƟɵƠơǑǒǪǫǬǭȌȍȎȏȪȫȬȭȮȯȰȱṌṍṎṏṐṑṒṓỌọỎỏỐốỒồỔổỖỗỘộỚớỜờỞởỠỡỢợ" in bug 5417. Where such long words are present in titles, the problem is also present temporarily in the "Latest bugs" portlet.
