Bug Description

Hi,

I'm getting bug mail for bugs like bug 804524.

Going to

https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-payment-service/+bug/804524/+subscriptions

shows:

You are not directly subscribed to this bug, but you have other subscriptions.
If you don't want to receive emails about this bug you can
mute all emails from this bug
stop receiving comments from this bug
only receive email when this bug is closed
If you want to receive more emails about this bug you can

Other subscriptions
You receive emails about this bug because you are a member of the team Buy-something hackers, which is directly subscribed to it.
Contact Buy-something hackers to request the administrators make a change
Subscriptions to Payment service

You will receive an email when any change is made or a comment is added.
Buy-something hackers subscription: (unnamed)You do not receive emails from this subscription.Send my emails for this subscription

I can mute that bug, but I want to avoid getting any bug mail via that team subscription.

In particular the following is confusing:

"You receive emails about this bug because you are a member of the team Buy-something hackers, which is directly subscribed to it."

ok, good to know.

Look lower down:

"Buy-something hackers subscription: (unnamed)You do not receive emails from this subscription."

ok, so I don't receive emails from that subscription or I do?

Then the next line is:

"You will receive an email when any change is made or a comment is added."

so that seems to contradict the line before.

My reading of all this is that I shouldn't be getting the bug mail, but I do, so
either my reading of it is wrong, or there is a bug that I am still getting the
email.

Thanks,

James

Hi James,

It might help to understand this problem in context if you were to provide a screenshot.

I suspect that "Buy-something hackers subscription: (unnamed)You do not receive emails from this subscription." is in the "Subscriptions to Payment service" section. It's a structural subscription which you have muted.

"You receive emails about this bug because you are a member of the team Buy-something hackers, which is directly subscribed to it." is the reason you're getting email. It's a direct subscription, separate from the structural subscription that you've muted.

"You will receive an email when any change is made or a comment is added." for the structural subscription should be faded and italicised if the subscription is muted. Is it not?

It is, but that's not a particularly strong hint it seems.

Your explanation of two subscriptions sounds likely, but it wasn't clear
to me that it was even possible, and the page seemed contradictory at
best.

I guess the direct subscription is because it's a private bug and that team
is the bug supervisor and so gets subscribed to all filed bugs?

Thanks,

James
