New product page JavaScript needs refactoring

Bug Description
The new product page template has a lot of inline JavaScript. This makes testing it with YUI test impossible. It also cannot be minified or served with a loader when we have that. It is also, obviously, not reusable.
I'll gladly mentor anyone who wants to do some JavaScript coding on Launchpad to fix this. It would be a nice way into Launchpad, YUI, or YUI test for someone with those interests.
