Bug Description

From a user via <email address hidden>:

I am having problems getting into Launchpad to report a Linux Mint LMDE bug.

I entered my user name and password then got sent to
"https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+filebug/+login"

Unfortunately that is as far as I get. The status line in Firefox 3.6.17
keeps displaying a loop of

"Waiting for bugs.launchpad.net
Waiting for launchpad.net
Waiting for login.launchpad.net"

and on and on at a fast rate.

My history shows the page as

"OpenID transaction in progress"

I can't reproduce this by regular login or with cookies and/or JavaScript disabled, so moving to Low.

Changed in launchpad:
importance: High → Low

Hello. Thank You for posting my issue. I appreciate it.

I can reproduce this issue 100% of the time.

On your suggestion I removed all my Firefox addons but the issue persisted.

Steps to reproduce:

The basic theory is that my machine does not allow cookies at any time, only when necessary. When I find a site that I know wants cookies then I 'Allow for session' if I find that I am getting nowhere without cookies then I reluctantly 'Allow for session.'

On first page bug page add "https://bugs.launchpad.net/" - Allow for session - cookies

Click 'Login' or 'Report a bug' generates blank page with message "Invalid OpenID transaction"

Add "https://login.launchpad.net" - Allow for session - cookies

SignIn

Go back to first page "https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint"

Note: Now all relevant pages are permitted session cookies

Click "Report a bug"
Back to endless loop

Work Around:

In Firefox Preferences add session cookies for
  launchpad.net
  bugs.launchpad.net
  login.launchpad.net
no problems.

Either your service has a continuity issue or Firefox is not properly broadcasting cookie states.

Either this is an issue or it is intended to work this way. I leave it to you.

Thank You for your attention to this issue.
