Bug Description

There is a blog post 'launchpad is now open source' from 2009 pinned on the front page.

This is pinned so folk know LP is open source, but it would be better as a distinct visual element rather than looking like a very-slow-moving-blog.

How about unpinning it and posting a new "launchpad's still open source ;-)" talking about how it has become a bit more open sourcey? :)

No - we want the message about it being open source to always be
visible on this page; unpinning and doing a single blog post won't
meet that goal.

But... that post will be pinned in front page forever? Why not put a footer in the website regarding that? (like the footer in Canonical SSO service).

There is now a footer. But, in some ways, I think it's nice to have
that famous post still linked.

Currently https://launchpad.net/ displays "Recent Launchpad blog posts" with last post dated November 6, 2012, which is misleading --- I see last post at http://blog.launchpad.net/ dated September 2, 2013.

Maybe adding a small pin icon next to the pinned post would help here?
