And just for the record, that's https://wiki.ubuntu.com/GoogleSoC2010/Ideas#Full%20Launchpad%20Translations%20API

But we've got more :) Anyone should feel welcome to explore those
project ideas to make Launchpad Translations even more useful for
translating Ubuntu and apply as a student to work on any one of them.

As someone asked for it today, the current status is that the translations API was not picked by any student for GSoC.

There is currently ongoing community work to implement the reporting part of the API: https://dev.launchpad.net/Translations/Specs/ReportingAPI

Any help will be more than welcome, developing on Launchpad is not as scary as it seems: https://dev.launchpad.net

Is there any update on this?

Being able to export PO files through Launchpad API will be really useful.
With this feature, one could write a script which merge back Ubuntu translations upstream.
This way, upstream translators may stop hating Ubuntu translators for "forking" their work.
(doing the Launchpad->upstream merge manually is such a pain that, AFAIK, almost no one does it)

This is not on the current work schedule for launchpad but as David points out above, there is a community project to implement the reporting part of the API, also people can always submit a patch if they want to work on parts themselves.
