Bug Description

I think that it would be very helpful to be able to search by the date a bug was opened, for example, "Older than..." "1 year ago" or "Newer than..." "1 month ago".

Use cases include:
* "I'm interested only in bugs reported since Milestone X was released" [suggested by Shirish Agarwal]
* "I know I reported this bug last month, but I can't remember what words I used".

This is the web ui equivalent of bug 327688

You may have some interesting use cases that we've overlooked.

Can you describe the needs for this that aren't handled by sorting?

Sorting doesn't rule out any number of bugs. If we could specify a date range like I suggested, we could drastically filter the number of results a given "advanced search" would return.

Example 1:
"Package: nvidia"
"Date: Newer than 1 month ago"

...returns any nvidia bugs opened under a month ago. Now, if we had a package that has thousands of bugs, this feature could reduce the returned results from, for example, 100 pages to 5 pages. In combination with other search functions, it could be as specific as possible.

Does returning 5 pages instead of 100 pages really matter much? I find there to be little practical difference between 1 and 1000 pages of results (like, say, when I'm using Google), because I'm usually too lazy to go beyond page 1 anyway. And even though Malone's search is nowhere near Google's, I'm /still/ too lazy to go beyond the first page, because usually bug reporting happens in the middle of something else I was doing, and I want to get back to it ASAP.

Can you provide other, specific examples, where, if you did have this feature, it would have helped you immensely?

I'm interested only in bugs reported since Milestone X was released , this makes it easy for people to see bugs & possibly triage them rather than seeing 5 pages.

No progress sorry. The plumbing exists and we'd welcome patches. At the moment we're focusing on other parts of the UI, this is now in the general backlog. If you wish to make a patch for this, we'd be delighted to mentor you.
