Easier bulk download of PO files

We are working on it now.

Should be ready really soon.

I wrote a small python script to download translations from rosetta, perhaps it might be useful:

It:
  - cycles through a given set of locales saving them to the filesystem based on a filename pattern
  - verifies that the downloaded file has at least 50% of the lines of the old
  - verifies that msgfmt can compile the file
  - is fully unit tested

We just added a way to request tarball downloads. The code is already in the server but we have a small problem that hope will be fixed tomorrow.

The functionality is that you choose the languages you want to download and Rosetta will prepare then and send you an email with the link to download it. We are doing it that way now because that operation takes a lot of time and many times the download request timeouts before getting the file.

Pitti, I wonder if our implemented solution solves your problem or if you still are looking to download individual PO files. If you are, can you explain to me why you need this feature?

I'd ask Brian Sutherland (jinty-lists) to see if the feature made his life easier, but he has no validated email :-(

Then the original question comes back: is the link to download the PO files prominent enough to solve the problem for the reporter?
