Unchecking "show comments" results in the diff lines next to the comments being removed

Bug Description
I have a (private) git repo and I am currently looking at a merge proposal. When I uncheck "show comments" so I can see the whole diff, I have noticed that the line above and below the comment are also being removed along with the comment (not permanently or anything, rechecking "show comments" brings it back)

I see similar behaviour for bzr, though in both the bzr and git cases I only see the line below the comment being removed, not the line above it.
