Currently '+distrotask' always defaults to 'baltix':
Ideally the upstream bug URL should be the first question asked; and the upstream project should default to a blank entry in the drop down. The improved dialogue might look like:
Upstream URL: [ ]
Distribution: [ ]
Source package name: [ ]
The URL is the most important item. Based on the URL it may be possible to intelligently populate the distribution/project name; the "Source package name:" is already shown as being optional.
Ideally the Distribution field should note default to anything statistically likely to be wrong. A blank field as the default in the drop down would avoid this. |
When recording a bug as affecting another distribution (or, once bug 123899 is fixed, another project), Launchpad asks for the distribution and then the URL of the bug report in that distribution's bug tracker.
The URL is the most important item. Based on the URL it may be possible to intelligently populate the distribution/project name; the "Source package name:" is already shown as being optional.
Fixing this bug would invalidate bug 135006. See also bug 1334 and bug 84323.
[This bug report originally also discussed "Also affects distribution" defaulting to "Baltix", which is already reported as bug 151014.] |
