Bug Description
On my satellite internet connection, Launchpad is extremely slow - pages take an inordinately long amount of time to load when compared to other web sites, and functions often give me time out errors. From my experience with these connections, it is due to the fact that Launchpad uses https - secure connections aren't handled by the high latency satellite connection nearly as well as insecure sites. Could Launchpad be changed to use a standard HTTP connection for everything except the login - or at least offer this as an option? It would make it MUCH more usable on satellite as well as other high-latency Internet connections.
