Bug Description

Binary package hint: khelpcenter

When I open khelpcenter and browse the Application Manuals, the sections are totally out of control. There is no way one could reasonably browse to find an application.

The sections I have listed are:

Control Center (*)
Development
Find Files/Folder
Games
Graphics
Help
Information
Internet
Lost & Found
Multimedia
Office
Settings (*)
Settings-Modules (*)
System (*)
System Settings (*)
System Settings (*)
Utilities

I marked with (*) the areas that seem particularly confusing.

Confirmed on Feisty. The organization of the help is terrible. A lot of those things also appear under "Control Center Modules."

Just curious as to what Herd 4 you are using that you are seeing this? I am not seeing the same problem/confusion that is in your screenshot.

I reported a bug earlier, can't find it right now, in regards to duplicate system settings

jjesse: I'm a little confused what you're trying to say. I see the same thing in your screenshot as in the previously attached one (minus one extra "Settings" entry which I don't have either).

The problem is "Control Center", "Settings-Modules", "System Settings", and "System Settings", and also "Control Center Modules" which is outside of Application Manuals all refer to the same thing, although their contents are somewhat different.

In addition, on my Feisty system "Control Center" has no subcategories, it's just a help file on how to use kcontrol (which isn't in the menu by default...) and the second "System Settings" entry has nothing in it, I get: "There is no documentation available for /systemsettings/index.html."

"System" is also a little confusing, but unlike the other ones it actually has a different meaning. Also, there is a separate "Information" category which should be under the kinfocenter entry in System.

Kinfocenter modules is also duplicated outside of application manuals (although some entries are differnent).

This would be an upstream issue. Checking to see if a bug has been reported there, if not I will file one and then link the bugs.

Marking this as a "Wishlist" item. Also added KDE bug #142584 upstream as a "Wishlist" item as well.

Switching this over to KDE base and not Kubuntu-docs. The documentation team does not handle this problem.

Refer to http://librarian.launchpad.net/2951206/snapshot1.png for a screenshot of the issue at hand.

It has been noted (https://launchpad.net/bug/46855) that KHelpCenter's Application Manuals section/index is not only wild but also confusing to some users.

Wishlist item - hopefully we will have this tamed in KDE 4 :)

Can you define "wild" and "out of control"?
All I see is the grouping from the K menu, as intended.
